Car Alarms come in different categories Thatcham one or two or non Thatcham.

Thatcham is a recognised category by many people and insurance companies. This will give you an Alarm and immobiliser and ultrasonics and in some vehicles upgrade your vehicle to remote central locking.  You may also be entitled to a reduced insurance premium depending on your vehicle and insurance company.

Thatcham 2 is only an immobiliser, of these will still give you confidence on leaving your vehicle.
